Fashion Genius Exclusive: The Styling Firm Presents Style In The City

What if you could not only hire a stylist but a whole beauty team to help you enhance your look. Homegrown Ft. Lauderdale native, Taj McGill, had a dream of creating a "one-stop" company for all your styling needs. Dreams came to reality as she is now the CEO of her own company The Styling Firm. The company specializes in image consultations, personal shopping, photo shoot styling and much more. During my recent interview with Taj, she spoke about working in fashion, her upcoming event Style in the City and plans for the future.

Taj's heart was always in fashion. "I grew up around a bunch of fashionistas from my mother to my grandmother. Growing up people used to pay my mother to personal shop for them, but she didn’t even know she was being a personal shopper,” she explained. Taj decided to pursue her passion and received her Bachelors degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. She then created her company, The Styling Firm, the inspiration for the name coming from her goal to have "a collaborated group of artists working together" to enhance overall a person's look. Her company consists of a group of talented makeup artist and hairstylist as well as a wardrobe stylist that she mentors. Taj has worked with everyone from celebrities to everyday people including local up and coming musicians.


She is organizing on the ultimate fashion event, Saturday, January 12th, 2013. It's a hybrid of a professional mixer and fashion show, showcasing some amazing local designers including Kawande King, Jenna Morss, and Suzette Kelly. This fashionable night out allows people to mingle and connect with professionals of the industry while enjoying great fashion and enetertainment. This isn't the last we will see of Taj in the fashion world. Her future goals are to help make her hometown a premiere destination for fashion explaining, "She wants to bring a new flavor to South Florida."
