5 Staple Bags Every Woman Should Have

This post is for all my bagaholic readers. Shopping for purses can get rather addicting and very costly, so let's step away from the handbag department and see what bags we need as staples in our wardrobe. I am currently budgeting for a nice leather medium sized "work bag" like this Kate Spade purse or this Rebecca Minkoff one. Below is a description of each type of staple purse and how to find the perfect one, you can click the title of each type to get to the bag in the photo. Happy Thursday!

The Statement Bag
Find a bag with an interesting print, pattern, or design that you like
This will usually be a splurge price
This bag MUST stand out when worn
It's best to wear it with simple outfits

The Weekend Satchel
Look for a crossbody bag you can take virtually anywhere
Vibrant fun colors are best because weekend bags are meant to be exciting
Good quality fabric because this bag will surely get some adventurous wear and tear
Make sure its large enough to fit your cellphone, wallet and lipstick (you know the essentials)

The Work Bag
Choose a fairly simple design conservative enough for the office
A large size is key to carry files, laptop, iPad, notes, ect.
Solid, basic colors that always coordinate with your work attire (ex: black, navy, camel, grey)
Shoulder bags are best for carrying heavier loads

The Evening Clutch
Small in size because all you need is your ID, credit card, powder, and red lip
Bring on the glitz and glamour including metallics and prints
I prefer the hard covered clutches as it provides structure even with little items in it
Spend time finding a unique piece, even vintage, that will bring elegance to your evening wear
For convenience, look for a clutch that also includes a convertible shoulder chain

The Travel Tote
This is the ultimate traveling essential for the frequent jet setter
Large in size because we never end up fitting everything in our suitcase
Easy access inside/outside zipper to place important items such as passport, ID, boarding pass
Fun print or color to offset the drab of layovers
Stick with a quality brand because last thing you want is a malfunctioning bag in the airport
