Beauty Report: Neutral Tones

Beauty Report: Neutral Tones

From everyday makeup looks or just a subdued glam beauty look, neutral tones are trending for the face. I mean just look at Rihanna's radiant makeup for the Grammys this year, STUNNING.

These are some makeup products I use to achieve the neutral look:

I discovered the new bareMinirals bareSkin foundation last year and its sheer application had me sold. It goes on WAY lighter than their powder and it lasts longer with only one to two drops per application. I usually apply one drop for day looks and two drops for a bit more coverage at night.

Before putting on my foundation, I prep my face with the Cover FX primer for an even application. I just realized that Cover FX also has a Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment and I want to test that one next. It's a bit pricey but primers are key for even and long lasting foundation along with a great loose setting powder! Laura Mercier loose setting powder has one of the best on the market. The powder is very light and goes with all skin tones, just be sure to use very little especially if you have medium to dark skin. I usually only use the translucent powder around oil prone areas such as my nose and forehead.

The newest addition to my beauty product family is the MAC Peachykeen blush. It has the perfect amount of pink to highlight the cheekbones and shimmer in the sun light, but isn't overbearing. For a night time neutral look add a bit of bronzer to the blush for a deeper color.

MAC Stripdown lip pencil is the perfect nude lip color in a light coffee tone. Color in your lips with the liner and add a light pink gloss for a bit of neutral glam. As for mascara, I used to spend tones of money on mascaras but they have the shortest shelf life of all beauty products so I like finding cheaper ones that give my lashes the necessary thickness. Revlon Bold Lacquer gives me defined lashes and last all day, but everyone's lashes are different so test it out and see -- for $7.99 it doesn't hurt. My second recommendation would be Clinique mascara
